How did you first discover Closure?

Today, more and more independent films are taking the path of self-distribution, like Closure has. With so many powerful tools available for first time filmmakers like myself, combined with cheaper camera gear/editing software, the possibilities for independent film can appear to be endless. However, one major challenge with self-distribution is gaining access to information about who your audience is, and how they prefer to view your film. With that in mind, please help us out by spending 30 seconds of your time answering this quick multiple-choice (anonymous) survey, sharing how you first discovered and watched Closure. This will give us great insight in how to continue to promote the film to wider audiences, and it will help me as a filmmaker in my future projects. Thank you!

A new book by adult adoptees, for fostered/adopted youth

I'm excited to share with you a trailer I made for an upcoming book titled "Dear Wonderful You: Letters to Adopted & Fostered Youth".  Angela is one of many adult adoptee contributors to this book, and the young "actress" I used in the trailer is a former foster child, who was just recently adopted.

In our travels this last year with Closure, Angela and I are always surprised to see at least one or two young adoptees attend screenings - typically surrounded by a sea of adults.  Most often, these children are not afraid to speak up during the Q&A's, asking difficult questions - often with their adoptive parents right by their side.  I have enjoyed being able to see Angela make great connections and share one-to-one time with many of these young people, and one thing has been clear from the experiences: young adoptees everywhere are eager to hear from those who have been in their shoes. Each adoption can bring it's own complexities for the children involved, and the only people who can truly speak to this are adult adoptees.

Hopefully, this book will be a great resource to adoptees, adoptive parents, and adoption agencies everywhere.

Enjoy the trailer!

"Dear Wonderful You, Letters to Adopted & Fostered Youth" is an Anthology of powerful letters written by a global community of adult adoptees and adults who were fostered. Each letter was written to the upcoming generation of adopted and fostered youth.

Closure - Now available on Hulu

Thanks to our friends at IndieFlix, Closure is now available to stream for free on Hulu.com!  This is by far one of the larger platforms that Closure has been available on, so we are really excited about the potential to reach a wider audience!  Please encourage those you know who have not seen the film to stream it here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/682410

NOTE: Hulu provides content ad-based streaming for your computer, but to stream from your smartphone, tablet/iPad, or television (blu-ray player), you must have Hulu Plus (paid monthly subscription).

How is Kyle's search for his birth family?

Many who have watched Closure cannot help but feel connected to (and equally entertained by) Angela's brother, Kyle.  At nearly every screening and Q&A we've attended, someone will ask:  "How is Kyle doing with the search for his birth family???"

Thanks to the new law in Washington state that now allows adoptees to apply for their original birth certificate, Kyle tweeted this photo today of him sending off his application.

Be sure to check out this new documentary short I made on Kyle preparing for and competing in the 2014 Washington State Special Olympics!  He ran the 1,500 meter race on pavement in his bare feet, and you'll have to watch the video to find out why!

Kyle is a 29-year-old transracial adoptee with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). This documentary portrait shows Kyle preparing for and competing in the 2014 Washington State Special Olympics in May. Part of Kyle's story is shared in the feature-length documentary "Closure" (closuredocumentary.com).
